Buying a used car doesn’t have to be intimidating. With a quick checklist you can run on any lot, you’ll catch the biggest issues before they catch you off guard.
Walk around first
Before you even open the door, take a slow lap around the car. Look for panel gaps that don’t line up, paint that doesn’t quite match between panels, and tires worn unevenly. Each of those tells a story.
Open every door
Check the door seals, look at the carpet under the floor mats, and lift the trunk liner. Water damage hides in those spots.
Take the test drive seriously
Drive on a highway if you can — that’s where vibrations, alignment issues, and transmission slips show up.
